102 acres in south Sacramento remain unused. Here's what residents, city leaders want to do with it.
Sacramento City Council Member Mai Vang, who represents District 8 where the 102-acre property is located, said that nothing is set in stone yet. She held listening sessions with residents over the past year to hear what the people want. Key findings from those sessions were put into a report, which was presented at Wednesday night's meeting. "We heard from our entire community about the need for affordable housing, the need for recreational spaces for our young people and our seniors, and also the need to make sure we support unhoused neighbors. It's absolutely the entire spectrum," Vang said.

Mayor Steinberg named Councilmember Eric Guerra (District 6) as Vice Mayor and Councilmember Mai Vang (District 8) as Mayor Pro Tempore for 2023.
