Language Equity & Access Policy

Launched LEAP - Language Equity & Access Policy workgroup in March of 2022 to address institutional language barriers in the city and provide recommendations on a city-wide language equity ordinance. The Language Access Audit report was completed in December 2022.

The City of Sacramento is in the process of developing a citywide language access policy. The purpose of this project is to evaluate the City’s current language accessibility resources and the usefulness at providing and promoting language accessibility and outreach to community members with limited-English proficiency.

Mayor Pro Tem Mai Vang and Vice Mayor Eric Guerra launched the LEAP workgroup in March 2022 to address language barriers and recommend a city-wide language equity ordinance. Simultaneously, the City of Sacramento is developing a language access policy to improve services for those with limited English proficiency, emphasizing inclusivity in our diverse community.
